~ Beautiful In Its Simplicity ~
The Curtiss Mansion was designed in the Pueblo Revival style and was constructed in 1925 by aviation pioneer Glenn Hammond Curtiss, developer of Miami Springs, Hialeah and Opa-locka, Florida. Curtiss lived at the large, two-story residence alongside his wife, Lena Curtiss, until his death in 1930.
Dear Mansion Friends,
May is a special month to celebrate and be thankful;
Here are some historical dates and new
events to remember.

We would like you to know our hearts are with you all during this alone-but-together time we are all living. Hoping we can all get together soon and celebrate life.

May you stay Safe and Healthy.

Thank you for all you sacrifice!
“Thank you for showing up every day during these extraordinary times; for caring for and supporting the individuals we serve as well as each other; and for performing your work with a continued commitment to service excellence! You are not only an inspiration, but are valued beyond all measure.”
On May 8th, we had the honor of seeing the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels gave a Salute in the Sky in honor of South Florida Healthcare Professional and First Responders. And just in time to celebrate U.S. Naval Aviation Birthday. #AmericaStronger #BlueAngelsFlyOver #HealthcareHeroesSalute

I am very sure Glenn H. Curtiss would be very proud. ☺

Happy Birthday, Naval Aviation!
May 8th

On May 8, 1911, 109 years ago, Capt. Washington Chambers prepared the requisition for the first U.S. Navy seaplane, the A-1 Triad, marking the birth of Naval Aviation. Before the Navy purchased the aircraft, it had a keen interest in aviation.

In 1910, the Navy appointed an aviation officer, Eugene Ely, whom Glenn Curtiss offered to train for free at his aviation camp. Ely, whose accomplishments of firsts in naval aviation are many, demonstrated that an aircraft could take off and land on a ship. From those humble beginnings, the Navy’s aircraft inventory has grown exponentially in both size and capability. Naval aviation has been pivotal during peacetime and war, and its capabilities are the envy of the world.

When you're a child
she walks before you

When you're a teenager

When you're an adult she

He is remembered for all his amazing accomplishments.
He held the first U.S. pilot's license and the world land-speed record, 136 mph, set on the sands of Ormond Beach on a motorcycle of his design and manufacture. He is known
as the father of Naval Aviation.

Curtiss Fun Facts
Do you know where Glenn Curtiss got his name?
His mother gave him the name Glenn because she would look at a glen everyday from their house. A glen is a narrow valley. ☺
